Team Lead - Asset Management,

Team Lead – IT Asset Management/Software Compliance

Job Description:

• Manage enterprise wide compliance with all software license agreements and copyright law by monitoring and enforcing proper software usage policies and guidelines to ensure that there is no non-conformance
• Read and understand software licenses and ensure software compliance in the organization
• Enter and maintain information in a database format to address budgeting, software compliance & inventory, contracts, and cost. Assist in the development of reporting to address management requirements to obtain information.
• Respond to requests from end users, managers, developers, and team members for specific IT Software Asset Management data information.
• Manage contracts and relationships to maximize value creation and costs for software licensing, maintenance, and service offerings.
• Identify savings opportunities for renewals, software licensing, and services.
• Conduct internal software audits to identify variances between deployed and licensed software; ensure deployed software aligns with the quantity and licensing models purchased;
• Manage vendor compliance audits as required
• Work according to the defined software policies, processes and guidelines to ensure compliance
• Work with all relevant stakeholders to resolve any compliance issues
• Avoid excessive or unwarranted software usage
• Oversee the purchase of all software licenses; ensure appropriate quantities and licensing models are purchased, determine contract requirements, ensure orders are placed and validate proper payment.
• Ensure adequate number and usage of licenses by monitoring, analyzing and optimizing
• Ensure retention of all proof-of-license documentation
• Assess and participate in negotiating new software vendor license agreements, negotiate changes to existing agreements
• Evaluate and recommend options to reduce licensing costs
• Research, evaluate, recommend and implement methods, policies, processes, best practices, techniques, technologies and tools for software license management.
• Create, build and maintain open partnerships and relations with major software publishers to ensure maximum value for all agreements
• Ensure and maintain expertise on licensing, processes, best practices, technologies and tools
• Track and report the team activities and ensure the targets are completed on a timely basis.
• Collect information for budgeting, software compliance & inventory, contract summaries, and cost comparisons.

Qualification:

• Bachelor’s Degree in IT/Computer Science/Engineering or Diploma in IT/Computer Science
• Six to eight years of relevant Information Technology experience.
• Superior organizational, analytical and customer service skills
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Process and results oriented
• Proven vendor relationship skills and experience
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
• Pro-active and aggressive; self-starter, able to work using own initiative with minimal supervision managing numerous concurrent tasks

Technical Skills:

• SAM certification is desired.
• Expertise in software license management
• Experience interpreting licensing terms and conditions
• Experience in managing licensing on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Expertise in contract management.
• Familiarity with usage of tools/scripts for software inventory scanning and license management
• Superior awareness and understanding of relevant industry trends and issues, as well as vendor organizations and business practices within the field of software license management and compliance.
• Proficient understanding of financial concepts and practices as they relate to software license and contract management.
• Fundamental knowledge of inventory management processes and techniques.
• Proficient with the MS Office Suite of tools, especially Excel.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) for developing queries and monitor usage information for deployed software products desired.
• Proficient with or working knowledge of other proprietary reporting and discovery tools used for software license management and compliance.
