BASIC FUNCTION:(this should be a brief statement or two which summarizes what the position does or what service the position provides).  An Example might be: The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing overall administrative and secretarial support to the Division Head, as well as providing general clerical support to other divisional staff on an as needed basis.
Head to grow and nurture the R&D team so that it acts as the prime mover of the organization and lead design groups for development of products, platforms and technology.

Interacts with (within organization): Global R&D and Product Management, MD, and all HOD’s
Interacts with (outside organization): Client Design  Centres , external design houses , Testing and Approval Labs. and Key Customers as required.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:(List key areas of responsibility or duties)
  • coordinates meetings

  • prepares correspondence
  • maintains filing system
  • Develop products / platforms / technologies per the defined roadmap for product development as desired by Product Management
  • Hire, retain and train engineers to develop new products, platforms and incorporate latest technologies in SSL
  • Value engineering of existing products
  • Fast track development as per market requirement by optimum use of available resources
  • Provide technical support to customers for understanding their requirements to develop futuristic products
  • Ensure a common component library between the different R&D centres as far as practicable
  • Drive advanced “research” in convertor platforms, connected lighting and innovative potentially disruptive products.

Works Independently whilst interacting with Marketing Management and Engineering Heads of other client design centres

  1. Directly Supervises the R&D Team
  2. Guiding product and component approval teams in QA

  1. In depth knowledge of power electronics and embedded technology
  2. Strong background and knowledge of components both active and passive
  3. Strong relationship with component manufacturers
  4. Hands on knowledge and experience in implementation of DFSS, DFA, HALT and HASS

  6. Effective Execution and Managerial Skills
  7. Project Management Skills
  8. Knowledge of Regulatory Requirements of Lighting products for India and Europe
  9. Effective Team Player.

  1. B.E Electronics from a premier Institute
  2. M. Tech / PhD (Desired)
  3. Patents in power electronics topologies a definite plus

  1. Minimum 15 years experience in related field with 5 years experience in a leadership role preferably in a MNC
